To achieve better integration skills for the students (groups threatened by social exclusion) by increasing the development of the teaching methods to succeed in connecting these to the society in relation to education, work and life.
When a person does not speak the language of the country he/she lives in, then their opportunities, in all walks of life, are limited. There is therefore a great need for skilful language teachers, who can pass on the correct syntax, character and usage of the language, as well as teach people the best ways to handle everyday life in their adopted country.
We will therefore map out which teaching will encourage the learning of a new language.
The aim of our project is to clarify which methods will create the best conditions for immigrants and refugees to absorb language and behaviour of their new country. Here we see the language teacher as a kind of a tutor, one who can play an important role, where there is a need for greater coherence in everyday life, in schools as well as in society.
These teachers will have to widen their teaching abilities, develop their qualities, and change their own perspectives through their experiences.
They must develop new methods for individual use in the participating countries, and the results achieved has to be published in a “ Manual of Inspiration “ written in both English and in the languages of the respective country participating.
- The project group members will meet 6 times during the 24 months.
- The teachers and students involved will meet 1 time in year 1 and 1 time in year 2.
- There will be series of interviews with students and teachers at the selected institutions in every participating country
- The collected interview findings will then be the basis for the drawing up a catalogue containing both the “ Best Practice “ and “ Suggestions “ for new teaching methods, formal as informal.
- Testing the new methods and teacher training.
- Video conferences.
- The mentioned catalogue will then be developed from the phase of testing the new initiatives together within the group.
